Polkadot Weekly Observation, is a summary of what happened to Polkadot’s entire ecology last week, and we will also share some of our observations on these events in the form of vernacular.This article is intended to provide information and opinions, and does not endorse any project. Observation and Viewpoint
The first is the Polkadot and Kusama network slot Auction. On July 23, the Web3 infrastructure platform BridgePort won Polkadot’s 22nd parachain slot Auction; the decentralized money market protocol Parallel Heiko won the Kusama 45th parachain Slot Auction.
In recent weeks, Polkadot's next-generation decentralized governance: Gov2 has become the focus of everyone's attention.Whether in Polkadot's annual conference or media interviews, Gavin mentioned Polkadot Governance 2.0. Last week, Dr. Gavin explained the principle and mechanism of Gov2 directly in an article.
This article can be seen as a simplified version of the Polkadot chain governance Gov2 white paper, which details how the next-generation governance works. In addition to this, it is also mentioned in the article that after a final professional audit, Gov2 will be launched on the Kusama network.
Once tested on the Kusama network, a proposal is made for voting by the Polkadot network. The update of the overall governance system, Gov2.5, is scheduled to achieve final deployment in a few months.
Previously, Manta Network submitted a Polkadot treasury proposal to develop OpenZL, and the proposal has been voted through.
Manta Network is a plug-and-play privacy-preserving parachain built on Polkadot, while OpenZL is an open source library that helps developers write and deploy zero-knowledge proof codes in production。
This effectively enables teams building projects based on the Substrate framework to safely and quickly deploy zero-knowledge proof technology into their projects.
For example, OpenZL can help projects like Astar build ZKRollups (scalability solutions), or cross-chain bridges can use OpenZL to make bridges high-performance and trustless, etc.
For now, more and more developers hope to use zero-knowledge proofs to build powerful protocols. It can be said that zero-knowledge proofs are one of the important ways to solve privacy problems in the Web3 world, and the emergence of OpenZL is an important step in the Web3 field. Practitioners provide solutions, and also provide more choices for various blockchain applications built on the Polkadot network.
This also fully reflects that Polkadot, as a multi-chain ecosystem, has extremely strong functional scalability。
Since the Polkadot parachains are all based on the Substrate framework and have the same architecture, when a parachain project introduces some unique functional tools or modules based on its own characteristics, it is easy to use them on other parachains. The chain can also use this to expand the functionality of its own chain.
