U.S. Senators Propose Tightening CLARITY Act Ethics Provisions to Restrict Trump's Crypto Business Ties
Odaily News, according to sources, U.S. Senators Thom Tillis and Ruben Gallego have reached a preliminary agreement on the ethics provisions within the CLARITY Act, but specific details have yet to be disclosed.
The provisions aim to limit direct ties between senior government officials and crypto projects, with a core focus on Trump's affiliated crypto businesses. Trump has previously agreed to accept the adjusted plan, with the White House calling it "the most extensive ethics restrictions in history."
However, Democrats believe the plan does not require substantive changes from Trump, and since the Department of Justice is led by his appointees, relevant enforcement would struggle to form effective constraints.
The new plan proposed by Tillis and Gallego still needs to gain support from the White House and sufficient Democratic backing before it can advance to subsequent procedures. (CoinDesk)
