Poll: US-Iran Conflict Deemed "Not Worth It", Trump Approval Rating Drops to 36%

2026-07-06 05:56

According to Odaily, a recent Focaldata poll indicates that a majority of American voters believe the Trump administration's military actions in Iran were "not worth it." The survey was conducted from June 26 to 30, covering 1,795 registered voters, with a margin of error of ±2.7%.

The data shows that 58% of respondents believe the current costs of the conflict are not justified. Meanwhile, 44% of voters think the conflict has left the U.S. in a weaker position in its relationship with Iran, while only 31% believe the U.S. is now in a stronger position.

Regarding the so-called "Memorandum of Understanding" reached between Washington and Tehran, the poll shows voters are broadly skeptical. Approximately 66% of respondents believe the agreement has done little to improve peace and stability in the Middle East, and may even exacerbate instability or increase the risk of conflict. Only about 20% believe it contributes to achieving peace.

The poll shows that only 36% of voters approve of Trump's job performance, a decrease of 2 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, the approval rating among independent voters fell to 21%, a significant month-over-month drop of 8 percentage points.

This trend puts pressure on the Republican Party ahead of the upcoming midterm elections in November 2026. The survey found that 44% of respondents said they would support the Democratic candidate in the congressional elections, 6 percentage points higher than the 38% who support the Republican candidate. One month ago, the Democratic lead was 4 percentage points.
