“Are you really born in 2005?”
On September 26th, just after celebrating his 20th birthday, Enheng was forced to shed the label of "19-year-old crypto kid." But for this young man, age is the least of his worries. The titles of Binance Prince, A9 University Student, and KOL with 76,000 followers more accurately describe his current image. " Compared to my peers, I'm at a relatively high level, both in terms of experience and wealth ." From a teenager who only wanted to make $300 a month in the crypto world to a figure with both wealth and influence, Enheng has completed a classic "blockchain comeback."
In real life, however, Huheng is a deeply private individual who rarely flaunts his wealth. Born in 2005, he attends a Beijing university, but at the time of this interview, he was living in seclusion at his Shenzhen home, where he rents 14,000 yuan a month. " The atmosphere in Shenzhen is better," he said. "I only return to school around exam time. My family and classmates don't know I'm in the cryptocurrency world; they only know I've made some money ." Unlike his social media persona, Huheng appears gentle, youthful, and perpetually smiling in front of the camera. He repeatedly emphasized that any videos he posts must be censored.
This is not the first time I have seen Hmm. During the Hong Kong Web 3 Carnival in early April this year, at the evening event organized by BNB Chain, when most people were crowded in front of the stage to "visit" CZ, a young man made his way through the crowd and walked straight to the first row of seats with a smile on his face. I asked my colleague who he was, and my colleague said he was the "Prince of Binance" Hmm.
The Prince of Binance: An Innate Marketing Talent
The title of "Prince of Binance" only appeared on Huheng's head in February this year. At that time, the Argentinian president's issuance of the currency Rug caused the Meme market to suffer setbacks. Huheng launched a funding campaign for the victimized college students and "geniusly" chose BSC as the target chain.
Two days before the post was sent out, not many people paid attention to the activity initiated by this little guy, but two days later, Binance founder CZ's personal response pushed this funding activity into the spotlight, and the number of views of the post soared to 1.07 million, and as a result, Huheng ushered in a turning point in his life of "rising to the top of the social ladder and becoming a prince."
"It's like calling out orders to the troops; whoever CZ calls upon will see a turning point," said Huheng, who didn't deny the value of CZ's response. "But CZ's money isn't so easy to get. There's excitement when you first get it, but after that comes endless pressure." Huheng didn't want to betray CZ's trust. Although this funding campaign encountered many unexpected situations (such as malicious trolling), he still believes the final result is satisfactory. "At the Binance event in Taiwan, two volunteers came to thank me, saying that the donation helped them in a timely manner."
Perhaps for CZ, this was simply a 1:9 ratio of goodwill and marketing to BSC. Using a $100,000 budget to snatch the attention of a top-tier Degen from Solana was a worthwhile investment. In February of this year, CZ officially returned to the trenches, leveraging his personal influence to build the BSC ecosystem, aiming to attract players, funds, and project owners to BSC.
"I believe in CZ, so I always think about the meaning behind everything CZ posts." Enheng chose BSC as the donation target chain, as if he had guessed CZ would reply. However, Enheng denied my "judging others by one's own standards," emphasizing that it was truly a coincidence. He chose BSC simply because he made money on TST. "I just wanted to contribute to BSC."
After finishing the topic, Huheng left the camera on the pretext of drinking water, and when he reappeared in front of the camera, he had changed into a T-shirt with the BNB Chain logo printed on it.
The cryptocurrency world isn't simply about trading and investment research; to truly thrive, one needs to be adept at leveraging trends and marketing. Besides CZ, Justin Sun is Huheng's second-most admired person. "When I met Justin, I didn't even know about Bitcoin, and I've always admired his ideas," he said.
Clicking on Nengheng's Twitter feed, the background image shows a photo of him with CZ and Justin Sun. While photos with celebrities and prominent figures are often taken for social recognition and commemorative purposes, they can also be a highly effective form of self-marketing, projecting one's identity and value, turning them into "exchangeable" assets.
The famous scene between Huheng and Justin Sun was on April 4 this year. Justin Sun held a press conference in Hong Kong about being defrauded of 500 million US dollars. Huheng did not miss the exposure environment that Justin Sun spent a lot of money to create, and ran to the press conference to give Justin Sun a bottle of hand cream.
Besides catching up on the scene, Huheng also frequently interacted with Justin Sun on social media. Although he didn't receive many replies from Sun, he gained exposure at a very low cost. However, after going all-in on BNB, Huheng took the initiative to reduce his close interactions with Sun. Huheng said that he and Sun have always had a good relationship and still keep in touch privately.
In July, Nengheng traveled all the way from Shenzhen to Harbin to buy a Rolex watch priced at over 349,000 yuan, and asked the seller, a TikTok influencer, to film a video for him. "When he heard that I was 19 years old, he refused. I said that I couldn't be prejudiced against the crypto industry, but in the end we negotiated and filmed one."
Just before turning 20, Enheng launched a "20th Birthday Million Airdrop" campaign, requiring users to register for Aster through his link. That same evening, Enheng posted on WeChat Moments that anyone who tagged him in a group chat would receive a red envelope. Along with the red envelope was an Aster tutorial advertisement.
" Is there really no one behind you who can guide you? " I asked this question twice.
"I'm surprised too. I don't know why so many people are paying attention to it," Huheng said. He said that many of the things he does are not marketing, but the results are always unexpected.
“So how do you feel about people calling you the Prince of Binance?”
"Sister Yi said that as long as you buy BNB, everyone will be the prince of Binance, so join us quickly." Huheng once again avoided the question very easily.
A speck of dust from Binance is a mountain of gold when it falls on someone's head
Enheng often thanks Binance and CZ He Yi on social media, as his current achievements are largely achieved on BSC. Enheng joined the cryptocurrency world in 2022 through a Douyin blogger who offered commissions. He subsequently started with less than 20,000 RMB in the digital currency and contract trading arenas, ultimately completing his initial wealth accumulation on the BSC ecosystem this year.
There's been speculation that Nengheng's assets have reached A-9, but Nengheng claims they're actually not that high, and are currently in the A-8-A-9 stage. At my urging, Nengheng shared his VIP 2 Binance account.
The skepticism surrounding Huheng may stem from disbelief and jealousy of a young man's exceptional talent, but he's certainly betting on Binance. If you were to ask what kind of bull market will emerge in 2025, the answer would likely be a Binance bull market. Starting in the second half of 2024, whatever Binance sets its mind to will succeed.
In the first half of 2024, Binance was mired in community crises related to VC coins and listing conspiracies, leading to a temporary decline in its reputation and brand power. However, in the second half of the year, Binance successfully restored its reputation by listing numerous meme coins, creating countless get-rich-quick stories. Which meme coin would Binance list next became a dominant market trend. In 2025, CZ strongly supported the development of BNB Chain, sparking a frenzy on the blockchain, making BNB Chain the most active L1 after Solana. Binance then entered the wallet market, airdropping countless coins through Binance Alpha to establish itself as the leading wallet. How to farm Binance Alpha has become a paid course for bloggers. Now, the DEX sector has also benefited from Binance's success. Thanks to the wealth created by Aster, Prep DEX has become the most popular sector. Following these successful developments, BNB broke through the $1,000 mark, reaching a new all-time high, marking the climax of Binance's bull run.
Many believe the key to Binance's success lies in its ability to create wealth. In each of the cycles Binance has experienced, individuals have successfully seized opportunities and accumulated wealth. A speck of dust from Binance can become a mountain of gold for someone . Huheng understood this truth back in February of this year. "Since February of this year, almost around the time CZ officially returned, I've been fully focused on the BSC ecosystem."
Betting on the right track is ten thousand times more important than hard work. "My first real pot of gold was when CZ retweeted TST." At that time, Huheng bought $30,000 worth of TST and ultimately sold it for a profit of approximately $400,000. Since then, Huheng has closely followed Binance and CZ's lead, seizing opportunity after opportunity. Mubarak, Sky AI, B, and now Aster are all impressive achievements. "I bought about $50,000 worth of B before it was acquired by the WLFI project, and after it became popular, I made almost 30 times the profit." By investing in B, Huheng has already entered the A8 stage.
Aster was an opportunity for Nengheng to reach A9. He bought about $400,000 worth of Aster, but he told me that he didn’t really care how much money he made from Aster in the short term. He wanted to accompany it in its long-term development.
I asked to see his Aster holdings, but he refused. I asked him, "What if you secretly sold some of them in the short term?"
"If I sell Aster in the short term, it must be because I have personal cash flow problems, or I want to hedge risks in the short term or something," Huheng answered very confidently.
"The blow in February nearly pushed me off a cliff"
Like any active cryptocurrency investor who makes money, Huheng is controversial and polarizing.
"Most relationships in the cryptocurrency world are based on profit, but there are also genuine bonds and friendships," said Huheng. He added that since going all-in on the cryptocurrency world for three years, his main friends have come from those he met during his time there, and that he is a grateful person. However, a turmoil in February had a profound impact on Huheng. " That blow nearly pushed me off a cliff ."
In February, Huheng earned the title of "Prince of Binance," but he fell into a crisis of character. He was exposed by several people in the cryptocurrency world for his poor conduct, including exploiting his friends' reputations, leaking videos of him engaging in commercial entertainment, secretly issuing a meme coin with the same name, and slandering female newcomers in the cryptocurrency world. When I brought this up, Huheng responded, " 99% of it is fabrication. What famous cryptocurrency boss hasn't been the target of rumors? "
The source described Huheng as a thoughtful person. Not only did he give her perfume on their first meeting, but he also spent over 1,000 yuan per person on the dinner and even competed with the driver of the sports car for the bill, taking the subway home afterward. "It's basic etiquette for a younger person to pay the bill when they invite an older person to dinner," Huheng didn't deny the authenticity of the story, but he added that the sports car wasn't very expensive and may have been a multi-owner item.
Compared to the hurt these incidents caused him, Huheng said what hurt him the most was actually being backstabbed by a friend. "It's like you give your back to a friend, but he stabs you in the back. It hurts so much." He said he wasn't good at saying no at the time, and 80% of his visits to entertainment venues were forced. "That incident opened my eyes to the ugliness of human nature, but it also made me more rational in my future actions. Looking back, I've learned from the journey." When he mentioned the word "ugliness," Huheng's tone became noticeably more emphatic.
In the melting pot of the cryptocurrency world, these scandals might seem like a minor issue. Who is truly innocent? The audience wants excitement, not right or wrong. But for this 19-year-old, who entered the cryptocurrency world solely to change his destiny, the leaks of his private life and the overwhelming online backlash against him still leave him asking himself, late at night, why.
"Are you still in contact with them now?"
"There will be no contact, there will be no contact," Huheng repeated twice.
Why interview Uh-huh?
On September 23rd, I sent a WeChat message to Nengheng saying I wanted to write an article about him, and he readily agreed to my interview request. But the interview with Nengheng was actually something I negotiated with the editor. In early September, when Nengheng refunded $200,000 in group fees, I had the idea for an interview, but the editor rejected it. With Aster's popularity and Nengheng once again in the spotlight, I proposed the interview again. This was the first time I'd submitted the same topic twice, and after much discussion, it was finally approved.
I've always believed that Huheng is a typical example worthy of discussion. He may not be able to say anything profound, but he shows the true state of the grassroots post-00s/post-05s in Web 3. The post-00s are taking over the world and are also taking over Web 3, but the differences between them are huge.
Some post-2000s have founded remarkable projects (such as pump.fun) and joined remarkable companies. They are in-demand talents, the new generation of Web 3 elites who deserve to be in the spotlight and whose words will be pushed as news by the media in the future. However, there is also a group of post-2000s who, after passionately investing in Web 3, choose to "retire". They feel empty and meaningless in the cryptocurrency world, and their ideals have been eroded. They are ordinary, morally upright, and desperate Web 3 workers (related reading: The first batch of post-2000 Web 3 workers have begun to "retire" ) . There is also a group of post-2000s who do not have a high level of education, are people who receive less resource allocation in reality, have no quantifiable advantages in the workplace, and have a strong desire to make money and believe that blockchain can change their destiny.
The last group is actually the majority of the post-00s in the cryptocurrency circle. Countless of them have accumulated wealth through various means. Some start with high-leverage contracts, some make money by watching Musk's retweets 24 hours a day and buying at the bottom in time, some contact artists to issue coins and "pour" them at the top, and some curry favor with KOL bigwigs to get insider resources.
Although not everyone's way of completing primitive accumulation is glamorous, and perhaps their experiences do not have any essence to be extracted or universal reference, their stories are worth seeing.
My interview with Nengheng wasn't to praise or denigrate his achievements, but simply to showcase the faces of more post-2000s in the cryptocurrency world. Sometimes they're cunning, sometimes they're despicable, but they're all trying, in their own ways, to push their destiny forward. A young person who uses limited resources to gamble on possibilities is, in my opinion, worth documenting no matter what.
