In the first quarter of 2023, the Kava ecology's cross-chain demand for Cosmos and Ethereum has shown explosive growth. As demand surges, so too do developers' and users' demands for speed, security, and performance. To meet this need, the Kava 13 mainnet upgrade will deploy corresponding architectural enhancements to help developers scale and advance their protocols and optimize the user experience across the Kava ecosystem.

1. Kava EVM 2.0 launched

Kava is rapidly scaling to meet the influx of traffic across Cosmos and Ethereum cross-chains, and to provide better performance for the protocol and users. Kava EVM 2.0 improves performance in two main areas: full node software optimization and managed service provider scaling.

The Kava full-node architecture upgrade to v2 brings faster and more reliable performance for RPC providers and validators. A major upgrade to the Kava EVM will support the launch of new protocols by eliminating downtime and speeding up the processing of requests for large amounts of data from protocols and wallets such as Metamask.

2. Seamless Cosmos–Ethereum cross-chain experience

A new built-in bridge leverages the security of IBC consensus to allow users to send native Cosmos assets to various protocols deployed on the Kava EVM. The seamless cross-chain experience reduces the number of clicks, waiting and uncertainty of relying on third-party intermediate chains to cross-chain.

3. Vault Management Upgrade

The Strategic Vault, controlled by the Kava DAO, is undergoing a major upgrade that will give the community more control and flexibility in supporting emerging protocols in the Kava ecosystem. With the expansion of the Strategic Vault functionality, Kava DAOs will be able to manage their treasury and deploy resources to any protocol on Kava. In addition to sending rewards to wallets or bulk wallets, the Kava 13 upgrade will give the Kava DAO control over providing liquidity, asset swaps, portfolio diversification, and more.
