Otherside "2nd Trip" will be launched soon, what new features may appear?
In July last year, Yuga Labs metaverse project Otherside completed the first show of the "First Trip" closed beta. In this test, Voyagers can participate in a variety of activities, such as moving freely, sending emoticons, sprinting, dancing, and completing aerial flips, or displaying NFTs they hold and experiencing new features such as private live broadcasts.
Although there are some problems in terms of user concurrency and game fluency. However, from the perspective of picture quality, game environment, and user interaction, the player's response to the first closed beta is generally positive. Nearly 5,000 users participated in the "First Trip", and Otherside also outlined the metaverse picture in their hearts to the players.
Less than a year after the end of the "First Trip", Otherside's "2nd Trip" announced that it is tentatively scheduled to go live on March 25. After a long development time, players can finally experience "2nd Trip" and explore the surprises that Otherside brings to everyone.
According to Yuga Labs' official news, like the "First Trip", Voyagers who hold Otherdeeds will have the opportunity to participate in the "2nd Trip". The official participation link will be released on the day the game opens. In addition, Voyagers can also invite guests to participate in the "2nd Trip". Details regarding invitations to guest passes will also be announced in the coming weeks.
At the same time, Yuga Labs stated that when the "2nd Trip" reaches the capacity limit, Voyagers will no longer be able to join the experience. Of course, Voyagers will have priority over Passport visitors into the game.
Additionally, Voyagers participating in the "2nd Trip" will be eligible to receive FIRST TRIP Obelisk shards. If the player has already received the FIRST TRIP Obelisk Fragment on Otherdeed, there will be no change to the metadata. The First Trip Obelisk Fragment is the first of eleven stories titled "The Voyager's Journey". In subsequent trips, players will explore different storylines.
New features that may appear in "2nd Trip"
Although there are still two weeks before the opening of "2nd Trip", the specific details have not been disclosed, but we can still predict the new features that "2nd Trip" may launch based on past information.
1. Enter the game with PFP
According to previous reports from Yuga Labs, they are exploring the features of PFP playability, for example, players can use their own PFP to enter the game and customize the game character, instead of only using Yuga PFP such as BAYC. This idea can be realized through the Otherside Development Kit (ODK), developed in cooperation with Improbable, which enables creators to build and customize avatars, such as changing the character's shape, size, face, height, accessories and movement specifications.
However, while tool development is ongoing, this is still a complex technical obstacle that may not be experienced first in "2nd Trip". However, Yuga Labs also stated that for those who want to use PFP to enter the game, they have an interesting solution, which can be expected in advance, and there may be a flight experience.
2. Various game interaction scenes
Yuga Labs provides players with experiences across different game types by setting different game templates. Such as spanning from mini-games to deep complex games, players can experience the fun of the game simultaneously in a small, private space or in a community environment of thousands of people created by Otherdeed. This is a test of Otherside's development technology. However, as Yuga Labs said, unlike "First Trip", "2nd Trip" will be a big step for Otherside. There will be new environments, mechanisms and higher user concurrency in the game, focusing on how to integrate thousands of Tens of thousands of people gather and access the Metaverse from anywhere. The introduction of these new spaces and mechanisms will bring players richer game scenarios.
Yuga is busy in March
Since the beginning of this year, Yuga Labs has continuously released new actions, such as the casting of the Sewer Pass launched in January, and the opening of the Dookey Dash Temple Run survival challenge game, which kicked off the prelude to the Yuga Labs mini-game. During the more than a month of Dookey Dash's operation, about 25,000 Sewer Pass holders spent 700,000 hours and completed more than 7.4 million game runs. After two adventure trips, select Sewer Pass holders are also eligible for the March 15 call-in and a chance to play in BAYC's future mini-games. The astonishing data in a short period of time has to make people sigh that the Dookey Dash game seems to have seized the NFT mini-game market.
When the market hotspots gradually dispersed and could not continue to catch the players' attention, Yuga Labs got on the Bitcoin NFT car and announced the launch of the NFT series TwelveFold based on the Ordinal protocol; in just 24 hours of auction time, it created over 1600 $10,000 in revenue, the highest bidder paid over 7 BTC for a TwelveFold. Although the auction method of TwelveFold was criticized by the founder and team of Ordinal, Yuga Labs was not affected and continued to promote the "2nd Trip" of Otherside.
According to its official Twitter, after the end of "2nd Trip", Otherside "Legends of Mara" will also open soon. According to reports, this is a 2D experience driven by APE tokens.
And 10 KTF, which was acquired by Yuga Labs not long ago, seems to appear in "2nd Trip".

Yuga Labs is currently building its grand narrative step by step. We can often see its upcoming event sketches and promotions from its official Twitter. Although there are often suspense and easter eggs, we can also find some interesting "Spoiler". In the next few months, let's look forward to more surprises from Yuga Labs.
