The ERC20 token EOS will be launched on the mainnet on June 2, butAccording to PeckShield official website, as of today, PeckShield found that 29.98% of EOS tokens have not been mapped yet. PeckShield also stated that among the EOS tokens that have been mapped (70.02%), the mapping of 0.23% of the EOS tokens is invalid. Based on todays EOS price ($12.40), this means that about $27 million worth of EOS tokens may be invalidated. For those 0.23%, if they don’t remap immediately, they will lose their EOS tokens forever.

The mapping mentioned here is the public key mapping, which isAssociate the EOS public key registered on the EOS contract with the EOS wallet where we store tokens. So you need to apply for the public key and key on the EOS native public chain, and then associate it with the address on your ETH.
Why do we need to carry out EOS main network mapping? Because the current EOS token is on the Ethereum network, it is a different public chain from the EOS main network that will be launched, and is not on the same network. After the EOS mainnet is launched, native EOS tokens based on the EOS main chain will be issued. Only after you have done the mapping step, the EOS main chain will generate a corresponding number of tokens for you.
PeckShield disclosed two reasons for the invalid EOS mapping:
Token holders use the EOS key published online (ie EOS6MRyAjQq8ud7hVNYcfnVPJqcVpscN5So8BhtHuGYqET5GDW5CV) for mapping, which accounts for 0.19%;
Use illegal keys (commonly useful addresses such as EOSCrowdsale and EOSTokenContract as keys) for mapping, and this part accounts for 0.04%.

Regarding remapping, there are two steps:
Generate a reliable key according to the method on the official website.
Use the newly generated key to remap according to the officially recommended mapping steps.

For token holders, there are currently three options for completing the mainnet mapping:
Individuals manually map, but the operation is more complicated, and there is a risk of private key leakage.
Transfer the tokens to a wallet that supports mapping, but the mapping operation on the wallet is more complicated, and you need to import your own private key during the mapping process, and the risk of losing the private key is high.
Transfer your own EOS tokens to exchanges that support EOS mainnet mapping. After the EOS mainnet is launched, these exchanges will automatically complete the conversion of your tokens. And even if all ERC20 TOKEN are frozen after June, you can still trade shares (right to share sugar) through the exchange.
Of course, there are also some disadvantages to putting it on the exchange. For example, because not all exchanges support airdrops or support every airdrop, you may not get candy.
