Odaily News — The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has issued a risk report stating that major prediction market platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi currently do not hold the authorizations typically required to offer event contracts to users in the EU. ESMA noted that the regulatory classification of event contracts depends on the specific product and they may be deemed financial instruments, crypto-assets subject to the MiCA framework, or subject to member state gambling regulations; if classified as financial instruments, they would typically be treated as derivatives and could be subject to the EU's retail restrictions on binary options.
ESMA questioned that Polymarket and Kalshi only restrict certain member states, and that VPNs may bypass geographic restrictions. In July of this year, France already required internet service providers to block Polymarket. ESMA also warned that if AI investment returns fall short of expectations or a sell-off in tech stocks occurs, large investors may sell highly liquid risk assets, including crypto-assets, to raise cash; data shows that Bitcoin fell 35% in the first half of 2026, while U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw outflows exceeding $5.5 billion during the same period.
Odaily News: U.S. Bank, the fifth-largest commercial bank in the United States, announced that on September 9 it completed a cross-border payment between entities in North America and Europe using its self-issued U.S. dollar stablecoin USBDC on the public blockchain Stellar. As of June 2026, the bank had $445.4 billion in assets under management.
This transfer was not completed through a closed private ledger. USBDC circulated on an open network while remaining connected to U.S. Bank's existing systems. U.S. Bank CEO Gunjan Kedia said the pilot demonstrated the ability to accelerate global cash management and fund transfers.
U.S. Bank disclosed that its digital asset platform can evaluate stablecoin minting, payment redemption, freezing, and rollback functions. Jamie Walker, the bank's head of digital assets and fund transfers, said this pilot is another step in its digital asset strategy. (Bitcoin.com News)

The ethics section appears unchanged, and the BRCA and stablecoin yield sections also remain the same. Odaily reports that the UK House of Lords on Wednesday passed an amendment by a vote of 194 in favor to 138 against, requiring the government to formulate a digital asset strategy, despite opposition to the measure from the ruling Labour Party.
The amendment, proposed by Conservative peer Baroness Neville-Rolfe, requires the UK Treasury to formulate, publish, and seek consultation on the strategy within 12 months after the Financial Services and Markets Act takes effect.
The strategy will cover crypto assets, stablecoins, and tokenized securities, and address issues including innovation, consumer protection, and enterprises' access to banking, payment, and settlement services. The related bill still needs to be submitted to the House of Commons, where lawmakers may accept, amend, or reject the Lords' amendments.
The UK Cryptoasset Business Council expressed support for the vote result. Previously, Lord Stockwood, the UK Treasury's Minister for Investment, had stated that the government already has a digital asset strategy and is implementing it. (Cointelegraph)

Odaily News: After Bitcoin Depot filed for bankruptcy protection in May, some of its assets have been sold. Publicly traded digital asset infrastructure company Bitcoin Bancorp acquired 2,547 ATMs for $620,750, accounting for approximately one-quarter of Bitcoin Depot's more than 9,200 devices. Bitcoin Depot's first-quarter revenue fell 49% year-over-year, swinging from a profit of $12.2 million in the same period last year to a loss of $9.5 million. The company attributed its unsustainable business model to increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, transaction limits, and restrictions or bans in certain regions.
Odaily News: A large options trade appeared in the U.S. Treasury market today, betting that the selloff momentum in U.S. government bonds will push the 10-year yield above 5%. Rising oil prices could further stoke already elevated inflation, and this options trade is the latest sign that investors are stepping up hedging against bond market risk.
The selloff has pushed the 10-year yield once again close to its 2023 peak of slightly above 5%. The 30-year U.S. Treasury yield rose to 5.35% on Thursday, the highest level since 2007. The options trade paid a premium of about $14 million, a sizable amount in the derivatives market.
Earlier, traders said a wave of behind-the-scenes hedging activity had already emerged in the market, adding fuel to the selloff. If the decline continues, investors may further buy bearish options to protect their portfolios from losses, while also potentially increasing so-called convexity hedging. If the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rises to about 5.1%, the trade will reach its breakeven point; if the yield rises to 5.2%, the gain will increase to about $15 million. The last time the 10-year yield reached this level was in 2007.
Odaily News: StablePair Hook is a Uniswap v4 Hook designed specifically for stablecoin trading pairs such as USDC/USDT and USDC/USDG. Uniswap Labs stated that this Hook can provide traders with consistent and predictable quotes on every swap, and allow liquidity providers to capture a larger share of the value they create.
