Trump Orders US DOJ to Investigate Democratic "Extortion"

Odaily reports: US President Trump posted on social media, accusing Democrats of threatening to impeach the US Attorney General and other officials, and vowing to take other punitive measures against them. Trump claimed that Democrats themselves admit lacking relevant grounds, and that those threatened have not committed, or even considered, any conduct that could constitute grounds for impeachment. He called this "extortion at the highest level" and demanded accountability for those involved.

Trump also accused Democrats of threatening Republican donors, vowing to impose imprisonment and other punishments on them solely because they are Republicans or Republican supporters. He said this further demonstrates political instrumentalization and lawfare, and pointed to Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin vowing to go after young people who identify with Republican values, as well as anyone showing even the slightest inclination to support Republicans.

Trump stated that the ones who should truly be imprisoned are what he called the "extortionists," and called on Republicans to act quickly. At the end of the post, Trump said he had ordered the Department of Justice to immediately investigate the relevant conduct.
