Trump Account eligibility may be expanded to under-40s, with related legislation potentially introduced in the coming months
Odaily: Brad Gerstner, founder of Altimeter Capital and a key driving force behind the Trump Account program, said that the relevant team is pushing legislation to expand Trump Account eligibility to people under 40 and allow funds to be used for retirement, education, and entrepreneurship. The expansion is expected to cover about 100 million additional people, and related legislation may be introduced in the coming months.
Brad Gerstner expects that by the end of 2027, total private donations to Trump Accounts could reach $100 billion. Previously, Elon Musk announced plans to gift one SpaceX share to every American child in 2027, with the total value estimated at nearly $11 billion based on current valuations. The shares will be distributed through the account program.
Currently, Trump Accounts are primarily aimed at U.S. citizens under 18. Funds in the accounts will be invested in the stock market, and beneficiaries can use them for education, home purchases, entrepreneurship, and other purposes after turning 18. However, the plan to expand eligibility still awaits legislative progress. (New York Post)
