Block finality time reduced to about 150 milliseconds, Solana Alpenglow to launch on mainnet-beta on October 21
Odaily News: Solana research and development company Anza has announced that Alpenglow will go live on Solana mainnet-beta on October 21 at approximately 22:50 (UTC+8), with the migration completed within a single slot. The upgrade, which took 18 months of development, will replace the TowerBFT consensus protocol that Solana has used since the public network's launch, reducing block finality time from several seconds to about 150 milliseconds. Alpenglow combines the latest consensus research with erasure-coded data dissemination technology and is designed for use cases such as high-frequency trading, institutional financial services, Web3 applications, and the AI agent economy.
