Based trading wallet and App unaffected; co-founder Edison has notified regulators and filed a police report
Odaily reports: According to Edison's monitoring, in response to the recent card data breach incident, the Based team's compliance and operations department has begun contacting and responding to affected users, and has notified the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore (PDPC) and relevant regulatory authorities, as well as filed a report with the police. They are currently cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation. Edison stated that the card business is currently still operating normally, and the Based trading wallet and App have not been affected. The wallet uses a self-custody model, and the platform does not hold users' private keys; the social login feature is powered by Privy, and users can still continue to use Based for trading. Regarding external discussions about a "admin backend leak five months ago," Edison said that this backend is unrelated to the current card data breach incident and did not contain any user data. The backend belonged to an early development version of a custodial OpenClaw product that the team tested in March 2026, intended only for small-scale internal testing, and it was subsequently decided not to launch it and development has been halted. Edison stated that the team's current priorities include continuing to support affected users, further strengthening security controls and monitoring systems, and continuing to build a better trading experience.
