Aerodrome and Velodrome Merger to Launch on October 21, Aero Publishes Token Exchange Terms

Odaily News: Aero has published the token exchange terms and timeline for the merger of Aerodrome and Velodrome. The merger will launch on October 21 at 8:00 PM (ET), at which point token emissions on both legacy platforms will cease. Existing AERO can be exchanged 1:1 for the new AERO, while each VELO can be exchanged for approximately 0.044 AERO, with this ratio applying to both circulating and locked tokens. The VELO exchange ratio depends on the supply at launch, with Aerodrome holders allocated 94.5% of the new supply and Velodrome holders allocated 5.5%.

Existing veAERO and veVELO positions will be converted into new sAERO positions, with remaining lockup time carried over and rounded up to the nearest full week, and permanent locks converted to maximum-duration staking. Tokens will not be exchanged automatically; self-custodied assets must be processed through the Aerodrome or Velodrome upgrade portal, and users must first claim rewards and rebase and clear active votes. The new model will replace the original weekly voting cycle with real-time allocation, allowing sAERO holders to direct rewards to pools and earn yield as exchange revenue accumulates, with a 47-hour cooldown period initially in place for allocation adjustments. The merger was announced in November 2025, and developer Dromos Labs originally planned to complete it in the second quarter of 2026.
