New Stylus Contract Activations Paused as Arbitrum Responds to AI-Assisted Attack Risks
Odaily reports that according to monitoring by the Arbitrum Security Council, Arbitrum took emergency measures at approximately 23:30 Beijing time on October 2 to temporarily block new Stylus contract activations on the Arbitrum One and Nova networks. This restriction primarily targets newly activated programs and application updates, while already activated Stylus applications can continue to operate. The deployment and execution of regular Solidity contracts are unaffected.
Arbitrum stated that this precautionary measure stems from a WebAssembly program attack threat targeting non-standard Stylus compiler toolchains. No risk of stolen funds has been identified so far, with the primary concerns being on-chain activity and denial-of-service attacks.
