US media: Trump's core cabinet members met in secret at Camp David for hours to discuss next steps in Iran and Houthi conflicts
Odaily News: According to three US officials who spoke to Axios, several core cabinet members of US President Donald Trump held closed-door talks for several hours at Camp David on Friday to discuss the next steps in the Iran war and the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni Houthis. The Trump administration did not publicly announce the meeting, and such meetings are extremely rare. The last similar meeting was held in June 2025, just days before Israel went to war with Iran. Officials said the meeting was chaired by Vice President Vance. Other attendees included Secretary of State Rubio, Secretary of Defense Hegseth, White House envoy Witkoff, CIA Director Ratcliffe, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Caine. Speaking about the Middle East crisis, one official said: "Some things have been decided, or at least discussed in depth." The White House declined to comment. In addition, on Friday afternoon, while advisers were meeting at Camp David, reporters asked Trump how he would respond to Iran next. Trump replied: "If I told you, you'd have a big news story. But you'll just have to wait and see. Things are going very well. Iran is not in a good position." (Jinshi)
