Microsoft X account hacked to promote Clippy-themed Meme coin
Odaily reports: Microsoft's official X account was accessed without authorization on Thursday, briefly following and promoting accounts linked to an unofficial Meme coin, reposting related tweets, and changing its profile picture to Clippy.
The related content was deleted approximately 30 minutes later. Microsoft subsequently confirmed that the account had been secured, the unauthorized posts had been removed, and that it would continue investigating. Microsoft stated that it never authorized anyone to use its intellectual property, including Clippy, to promote tokens, and plans to take legal action.
The token is named CLIPPY. The account Clippy MSFT had promoted a liquidity pool valued at over $200,000. Some promoters claimed it was backed by Microsoft's actual stock, but this claim has not been verified and has no official association with Microsoft. (Bitcoin.com News)
