Kazakhstan plans to draft rules for mining with associated gas from oil fields, involving up to 60 oil fields

Odaily: Bitcoin News posted on X that Kazakhstan is drafting rules under a decree by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to allow mining using natural gas that is flared from oil fields. The country has previously auctioned grid electricity and moved most of its mining industry off its aging power grid.

Daniyar Mubarakov of the Blockchain and Digital Mining Association told Euronews that this gas could generate 1.2 to 1.3 terawatt-hours of electricity. Ministry of Energy statistics show that up to 60 oil fields have flared natural gas.
