Multiple Hong Kong Stock Connect ETFs See Significant Volume Increases; Institutional Sources: Insurance Funds May Be Buying

Odaily News: On September 21, the trading volume of multiple Hong Kong Stock Connect ETFs (southbound) included in the mutual market access mechanism increased significantly compared to previous levels. Wind data shows that CSOP Hang Seng TECH Index ETF (3441) recorded a trading volume of HK$339 million today, while its single-day trading volume had consistently remained below HK$100 million over the past three months; Ping An of China CSI HK Tech ETF (3406) and Ping An of China CSI HK Dividend ETF (3477) both exceeded HK$100 million in trading volume today, setting new all-time highs with significantly amplified volume.

A person from an institution stated that some insurance institutions have recently received relevant detailed rules notices and may have begun purchasing Hong Kong Stock Connect ETFs included in the mutual market access mechanism, with other insurance institutions potentially following suit. Industry insiders believe that with the entry of insurance capital, the investor structure of southbound ETFs is expected to further diversify, bringing more long-term capital to the market, enhancing market activity, and further strengthening Hong Kong's important role as a hub for cross-border asset allocation.
