U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent urges the Senate to advance the CLARITY Act, saying all parties should continue negotiations
Odaily News U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated on X that he had called on the Senate in July this year to advance the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets and strengthening capabilities to prevent bad actors from abusing related technologies.
He noted that as the Senate reconvenes after its August recess, he strongly urges all parties to remain engaged in negotiations and to agree to the procedural motion to proceed on the bill, in order to continue advancing the legislative process. Failure to move forward would send a signal to U.S. allies and adversaries that the United States is unwilling to take a leadership role in the future development of digital assets, while also forgoing tools essential to strengthening national security and combating digital asset abuse.
