A new wave of chip price hikes is hitting, with semiconductor companies announcing price increases in rapid succession
Odaily News: The "siphoning effect" of AI on the semiconductor supply chain continues to intensify. Entering the second half of 2026, a new round of chip price increases is sweeping across the industry with broader coverage and stronger momentum. RF chip giant Maxscend issued a price adjustment notice, announcing new prices for its full range of RF products starting September 1. The following day, Nations Technologies followed suit, raising prices on select MCU products by 10% to 20%.
Among international heavyweights, STMicroelectronics (ST) is set to complete its third price adjustment of the year on August 23, while Analog Devices (ADI) will implement its second round of new prices starting September 13.
From memory chips to MCUs, from RF front-end modules to power semiconductors, from analog chips to passive components, price hike notices are landing in rapid succession. Compared to the earlier wave of increases in the first half of the year, this round stands out for a key characteristic: the explosive growth in AI computing demand has created a "siphoning effect" on mature process capacity. Combined with rising supply chain costs, persistently tightening supply-demand dynamics, and expanding domestic substitution demand, the semiconductor industry has been pushed into an upward cycle marked by simultaneous growth in both volume and price.
