Swiss National Bank's U.S. Equity Holdings Hit Record High, Reaching $191.4 Billion in Q2
Odaily News: The Swiss National Bank's holdings of U.S. equities reached a record high in the second quarter of 2026. According to its 13F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as of June 30, the market value of U.S. stocks held by the Swiss National Bank across more than 2,300 listed U.S. companies reached $191.4 billion, up more than 10% from the previous quarter.
Data shows that the allocation to U.S. equities within the Swiss National Bank's foreign exchange reserves has continued to expand. As one of the world's major central banks, the Swiss National Bank has long managed its substantial foreign exchange reserves by investing in overseas stocks, bonds, and other assets, with U.S. stocks being a key investment focus.
The record-high holdings disclosed this time reflect that the Swiss National Bank continues to maintain a relatively high exposure to the U.S. stock market in its global asset allocation. However, the 13F filing only discloses holdings in U.S.-listed stocks and does not cover its entire foreign exchange reserve portfolio, nor does it represent the central bank's recent trading activity.
The Swiss National Bank has previously drawn market attention due to its large holdings of U.S. tech stocks, with its portfolio encompassing numerous major technology companies. As U.S. equities, particularly those related to artificial intelligence, have continued to rise, the value of U.S. assets held by some overseas institutional investors has increased significantly.
