Iran and Oman negotiators have finalized a draft of the Hormuz agreement

2026-08-05 13:50

Odaily News: Two regional officials revealed on Wednesday that negotiators from Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a draft deal, which is currently awaiting final approval from Iran's Supreme Leader. According to these officials familiar with the negotiations, the potential agreement is intended to serve as an interim solution to the dispute between the U.S. and Iran over shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. They stated that the agreement is related to the deal reached between the U.S. and Iran in June of this year aimed at ending the conflict and reopening the strait, but that deal ultimately did not hold. They noted that this potential agreement would pave the way for the U.S. and Iran to resume negotiations and reach a final agreement on Tehran's nuclear program. (AP)
