Odaily News: In an interview with CNBC, Federal Reserve's Kashkari stated that he remains open to future policy options and does not advocate for aggressive rate hikes. He believes that most of the recent inflation has come from supply-side shocks, compounded by some demand-side factors.
During the CNBC interview, Kashkari said: "My goal is not to slow down the economy, but to reduce inflation." He believes it is time to begin gradually raising interest rates, but he does not support sharp rate increases. Kashkari emphasized the value of continuing the tradition of explaining the Fed's policy reaction mechanism to the public. He stated: "Don't assume there is some magic number of meetings (that determines policy actions)." (Jin10)
