NVIDIA's five-year CDS sees biggest single-day jump in history

2026-07-27 13:48

According to Odaily, the cost of debt default protection for NVIDIA (NVDA.O) has experienced its largest single-day increase ever. This follows reports that NVIDIA is in talks for artificial intelligence infrastructure deals totaling over $750 billion, sparking market concerns over its potential to take on more debt burden. Data from ICE Data Services shows that on Monday, the cost of NVIDIA's five-year debt default protection rose by approximately 0.14 percentage points, marking the largest intraday increase since this type of swap contract began trading in November last year.

Odaily note: CDS is a financial derivative that acts as "insurance" against a company's debt default. The higher the CDS spread (calculated in basis points, bps), the greater the market perceives the likelihood (and risk) of that company defaulting.
