温岭警方曝光虚拟货币理财诈骗,受害者20天被骗44.5万元
Odaily Planet Daily News: Wenling Police have publicly reported a case of virtual currency investment and financial fraud. The victim, Mr. Cui, met a blogger on social media who claimed to be a senior investment mentor. The blogger touted virtual currency investments as a guaranteed profit opportunity. After making a small profit initially, Mr. Cui was induced to download a fraudulent investment app. Within just 20 days, Mr. Cui accumulated deposits totaling 445,000 yuan. When the account showed a profit and he attempted to withdraw funds, the app became inaccessible, and all contacts involved in the scam went silent.
Police remind the public that activities related to virtual currency are explicitly defined as illegal financial activities in China. Any promotion of virtual currency investments promising high returns, guaranteed principal, or sure profits is fraudulent. Citizens must enhance their awareness of prevention and never trust unfamiliar online investment mentors.
