According to data from MSX.COM, U.S. memory chip concepts declined, with SanDisk and Micron Technology falling over 6%, and Western Digital and Marvell Technology dropping over 4%. ON Semiconductor fell over 17%, as the company plans to acquire chip design firm Synaptics in an all-stock deal valued at $6.2 billion. The optical communication sector opened lower across the board. Lumentum and Coherent fell over 7%, Marvell Technology and Credo dropped over 5%, and Corning declined nearly 3%.
