CryptoQuant: Transactions with Under 0.01 BTC Reach 80% of Total, Hitting a Multi-Year High
Julio Moreno, Head of Research at CryptoQuant, stated that transactions under 0.01 BTC now account for approximately 80% of the daily total transaction volume on the Bitcoin network, significantly up from around 44% in 2023.
Moreno noted that this growth is primarily driven by OP_RETURN-based on-chain data protocols such as Runes, Ordinals, BRC-20, and data timestamping services. These protocols generate a large number of small transactions, with some transaction sizes as low as 546 satoshis (approximately $0.35), fueling a continuous increase in the number of low-value transfers.
Furthermore, the Bitcoin network activity index has been rising steadily since January this year and has now reached its highest level since the end of 2024. (The Block)
