Viewpoint: Institutional investors tend to favor BTC yield strategies similar to traditional finance, not chasing high risk

2026-02-05 13:11

Odaily News According to Thomas Chaffee, co-founder of GlobalStake, institutional investors' attitudes towards BTC yield are shifting; they are not seeking higher risk but rather yield methods similar to those in traditional finance (TradFi). Currently, fully collateralized, market-neutral strategies are replacing DeFi or smart contracts, reigniting institutional investor interest. Thomas Chaffee pointed out that in the past, due to smart contract risks, leverage, and opaque strategies, institutional investors considered the risk-reward ratio of BTC yield products unreasonable. With the evolution of infrastructure, hedge funds and treasury departments are beginning to favor deployment methods they are familiar with, which come with compliance and risk control systems. Richard Green, Director of Rootstock Institutional, also stated that investors holding BTC are increasingly hoping their assets can generate yield. (CoinDesk)
