Trump announced that Nvidia will be allowed to sell H200 chips to China, with a 25% cut of the export revenue.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that US President Trump stated on December 8th local time that the US government will allow Nvidia to sell its H200 AI chip to China, but will impose a 25% fee on each chip. The H200 is considered Nvidia's "second most powerful" AI chip. Trump stated that the US Department of Commerce is finalizing the relevant details, and the same arrangement will apply to AI chip exports from companies such as AMD and Intel.

Following the announcement, Nvidia's stock price rose 1.2% in after-hours trading. Reuters pointed out that this decision signifies a shift in the Trump administration's AI chip policy towards China, after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had been lobbying the US government for months to ease export restrictions.

The report quoted Jensen Huang as saying that the Chinese market is crucial to the competitiveness of the US AI industry, and stable US-China trade helps avoid double damage to the supply chains of both sides. The Chinese Foreign Ministry previously stated that the US should take concrete actions to maintain the stability of the global supply chain. (Global Times)
