California Governor Gavin Newsom told CBS Sunday Morning that he would seriously consider running for president in 2028 after next year's midterm elections. "I'd be lying if I said otherwise," Newsom admitted.
As a high-profile figure within the Democratic Party, Newsom has steadily increased his national influence in recent years. His aggressive communication style is seen as deliberately mimicking Trump's social media strategy, including the use of all-caps posts, memes, and merchandise. His political confrontation with Trump has continued to escalate, with the two sides clashing repeatedly over immigration protests, the deployment of the National Guard, and the Texas redistricting issue.
Newsom is currently pushing California's Proposition 50 to redraw districts, aiming to add five House seats to the Democratic Party. The vote on that bill closes on November 4. In the interview, he described Trump as an "invasive species" who "destroys the symbolism of the White House and is destroying alliances, truth and institutions."
In addition, Newsom launched a personal podcast this year, trying to establish a centrist image. The guests on the show include Steve Bannon, Tim Waltz, Jasmine Crockett and other political figures. (Jinshi)
