Odaily Planet Daily reported that Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives wrote to Paul Atkins, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requesting an investigation into the deletion of official text messages by former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler during his tenure. In a report in early September, the SEC's Office of Internal Oversight (OIG) pointed out that the SEC during Gensler's tenure had questions about transparency and compliance. The report showed that the SEC's Information Technology Department implemented an erroneous automation policy, which resulted in the complete wiping of Gary Gensler's government-issued mobile phone and the deletion of text messages from October 2022 to September 2023. Republican lawmakers criticized Gensler for having double standards. While suing several financial institutions for "failure to keep records" in 2023 and collecting fines of over $400 million, he failed to ensure the compliance records of his own institutions.
