Canadian police seize $40 million in crypto assets after shutting down TradeOgre

According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced that they have shut down the unregistered local cryptocurrency exchange TradeOgre and seized crypto assets worth 56 million Canadian dollars (approximately 40 million US dollars), the largest cryptocurrency seizure in Canadian history. TradeOgre was reportedly under investigation since June 2024, following a Europol investigation. Police discovered that the platform operated as an unregistered money services business, failed to conduct customer identification, and was suspected of laundering criminal funds.
