Bakkt abandons acquisition of the “bitcoin.jp” domain

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Bakkt, a digital asset trading platform listed on the New York Stock Exchange, announced that it would give up the acquisition of the "bitcoin.jp" domain name and instead acquire the "bitcoin.co.jp" domain name.

Earlier news broke that Bakkt had reached a share purchase agreement with RIZAP Group to acquire Tokyo-listed MarushoHotta for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition will make Bakkt the largest shareholder in MHT. In conjunction with this transaction, Bakkt will acquire the website domain "bitcoin.jp," which will become the new name of MHT upon approval by MHT shareholders. (Businesswire)
