Odaily Planet Daily reports that court documents have revealed more details about the Coinbase data breach. The lawsuit alleges that Ashita Mishra, an employee at TaskUs (Coinbase's outsourced customer service company) in Indore, India, stole sensitive customer information, including social security numbers and bank account numbers, starting in September 2024. She then sold the stolen photos to hackers for $200 per image, using them to impersonate Coinbase employees and defraud users. Mishra's phone contained data on over 10,000 customers, allowing her to secretly take up to 200 photos of their accounts daily. The breach affected over 69,000 customers and is expected to cost Coinbase up to $400 million. (Fortune)
