Indonesia's annual crypto tax revenue reaches $364 million, with over 20 million users
a day ago

According to data released by the Indonesian Directorate General of Taxation, as of this year, Indonesia's annual cryptocurrency tax revenue ranges from 50 billion to 60 billion rupiah (approximately US$31.25 million to US$36.4 million). Of this, 24.6 billion rupiah was collected in the first year of 2022, dropping to 22 billion rupiah in 2023. This amount rose sharply to 62 billion rupiah in 2024, and 11.5 billion rupiah has been collected so far in 2025.

The Indonesian government recently updated its cryptocurrency regulatory policy, raising the tax rate for overseas platforms to 1% and adjusting the tax rate for domestic platforms to 0.21%. At the same time, it abolished the buyer's value-added tax and reclassified crypto assets as financial assets, placing them under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority.

Currently, the number of crypto users in Indonesia has exceeded 20 million, exceeding the number of local stock market investors. The tax department noted that price fluctuations in crypto assets will continue to affect future tax performance. (TECHINASIA)
