CoinDCX Engineer Arrested for Allegedly Facilitating $44 Million Crypto Theft
20hours ago

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Rahul Agarwal, an engineer at the Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX, was arrested by the Bengaluru police on suspicion of assisting in a security incident that resulted in an outflow of approximately US$44 million (approximately 380 million rupees).

The incident occurred on July 19, 2025, when CoinDCX detected a large amount of funds flowing from its wallet to multiple external addresses. An investigation revealed that Agarwal allegedly installed malware to leak system login credentials, allowing attackers to access internal systems. Police filed a case against him under various provisions of the Indian Information Technology Act and discovered financial transactions between his account and the attackers. CoinDCX has launched an asset recovery bounty program, offering rewards of up to 25% of the recovered amount. (Finance Feeds)
