Odaily News After the Ethereum Holesky testnet was interrupted during the Pectra upgrade, it regained finality on March 11, 2025. Currently, the testnet has restored more than two-thirds of the validators to participate, ensuring the stable operation of the network.
The Holesky testnet previously encountered problems during the Pectra upgrade on February 24, causing the network to stagnate. The Pectra upgrade is designed to support ERC-20 tokens to pay gas fees, introduce account abstraction, and increase the staking limit. In addition to Holesky, Ethereum developers are also testing the Pectra upgrade on the Sepolia testnet. Although the network has achieved finality, some blocks were subsequently empty due to problems with the custom deposit contract.
Developers said Holesky’s recovery is crucial for further testing of the Pectra upgrade, and will also affect the timeline for future upgrades to the Ethereum mainnet.
