Odaily News U.S. authorities have charged six men with allegedly kidnapping four people from a Chicago townhouse in October 2024 to force them to transfer about $15 million in cryptocurrency. The victims included three family members and a nanny, who were held for five days before being released near a dry cleaner.
The FBI affidavit also alleges that the suspects used guns, threats and forced transactions to obtain victims' cryptocurrency assets. The case, which was recently made public in court records, revealed an elaborate scam involving rental cars, Airbnb properties and surveillance footage, with some suspects fleeing overseas before being arrested.
