Vitalik: Groth16 should be abolished as soon as possible, and major improvements are needed in infrastructure and standardization of new SNARK algorithms

Odaily News Vitalik Buterin said in a post on X: “One of the many things we need to speed up is the abolition of Groth16. Trusted setups for every application are not feasible in the 2020s. At least there should be a universal setup, and ideally no setup at all. This requires major improvements in infrastructure and standardization of new SNARK algorithms.”
Note: The Groth16 algorithm was published by Jens Groth in 2016. The advantages of this algorithm are that it provides a small number of proof elements (only 3 are needed), the verification equation is simple, and the integrity and reliability under polynomial computing power are guaranteed.
