Odaily News South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has issued a VASP license to a second cryptocurrency brokerage, Happy Block, suggesting it may eventually be ready to allow companies to buy Bitcoin and other crypto assets.
At the end of December last year, FIU issued a VASP license to another brokerage firm, Waybridge.
The FIU operates under the auspices of South Korea’s top regulator, the Financial Services Commission (FSC). The department is the only authority in South Korea that has the authority to issue virtual asset service provider (VASP) licenses to companies. Until the past few weeks, only a handful of cryptocurrency exchanges had successfully obtained VASP licenses. (Korea Economic Daily)
