“New Stock God” Serenity: Trump’s tariff strategy may backfire; cutting-edge supply chains are the true leverage in trade wars
Odaily reported that “New Stock God” Serenity stated in a post that the Trump administration may be gradually realizing that the core leverage in the trade war is not traditional commodity exports, but the cutting-edge supply chains in fields such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Serenity pointed out that key supply chain nodes are currently mainly controlled by US allies, including ASML’s EUV lithography machines in the Netherlands, advanced packaging materials and equipment from Japan’s TOWA, Ibiden, and Ajinomoto, as well as critical positions in the chip industry chain held by Taiwan, South Korea, and the EU.
In Serenity’s view, imposing blanket tariffs on allies could instead weaken the US’s ability to integrate global key resources. If the US hopes to gain an advantage in future trade competition, repairing relations with allies and turning the global supply chain into a strategic lever may be more effective than unilateral pressure.
