Coinbase announces it will not support Celo blockchain migration, sparking community dissatisfaction

Odaily News Coinbase stated that the Celo L1 blockchain (Coinbase code: CGLD) will migrate to Celo L2 on January 16, 2025. Coinbase will not support the migration, and customers must withdraw CGLD from Coinbase before January 13, 2025 to prevent the funds from being unavailable. This move has caused dissatisfaction in the community. Marek Olszewski, CEO of cLabs, said: "This feels like an obstacle to Ethereum's Layer 2-centric expansion roadmap. Is the hard fork controversial? How should the Celo community respond? Celo Layer 1 validators can choose to keep the current Layer 1 chain and rename it Celo Gold (CGLD) to facilitate the lives of Coinbase and its users.
