Farcaster reveals Frames v2 will be fully launched in 2025
2024-11-26 03:18
Odaily News Dan Romero, co-founder of decentralized Web3 social protocol Farcaster, detailed an update to Frames. Farcaster Frames launched in January 2024, after which Farcaster saw a surge in activity, with daily active users up 400% in early February. However, it has since tapered off slightly. Romero said the first version of Frames was still limited in that the number of interactions made it impossible to build larger applications, and that Frames’ image rendering was slow to generate, and its “ephemeral” state prevented users from returning. He said the Frames v2 upgrade aims to address some of these issues by providing a more advanced frame standard that supports more flexible full-screen in-app applications, interactive experiences, on-chain transactions, and user notifications. “Developers can build anything that renders in the browser and can use the frame SDK to trigger actions like saving a frame or requesting an on-chain transaction,” Romero explained. The initial new specification for Frames, which Romero highlighted, will be released on web and mobile on November 27, followed by an updated version with more features on December 6. According to the complete specification on GitHub, the full stable version is expected to be released in January or February. (Cointelegraph) Earlier today, Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero announced at X that the Frames v2 developer preview is now online. The new version uses the mobile wallet protocol and Rainbow to improve the reliability and speed of transactions and signed messages on mobile devices.
