Rumors of meeting with Trump spark criticism of Ripple Labs and its CEO

2024-11-17 01:37
Odaily News The company and Garlinghouse are facing criticism from industry executives as rumors began circulating on social media about Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s recent meeting with President-elect Trump. In response to the rumors, former Messari CEO and founder Ryan Selkis commented, “Brad Garlinghouse is pushing hard for XRP and CBDC deployment.” Pierre Rochard, VP of research at Riot Platforms, retweeted Selkis’ comments. Rochard agreed with Selkis and wrote that “we can’t let Ripple influence the U.S. policymaking process with their anti-Bitcoin agenda” and hopes Trump will appoint more Bitcoin supporters to his administration. Garlinghouse’s meeting with Trump is rumored to be one of the catalysts for the recent rise in XRP. During a recent appearance on Fox Business, Garlingouse neither confirmed nor denied rumors of a meeting with Trump. However, he is confident about the future of the crypto industry under the Trump administration. He also said he was not surprised by the positive reaction of the crypto market after Trump’s victory on November 5. Garlinghouse pointed to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler’s hostility toward the industry as a major driving force behind the suppression of U.S. crypto projects. (Cointelegraph)
