Odaily News Symbiotic posted a post on X reviewing the social media account security incident. Symbiotic stated that in addition to hacking into the X account, the hacker also purchased a phishing domain name on September 19, 2024, which looks exactly like the domain name posted by the Symbiotic official account. In addition, the hacker also created a Google Workspace account on the domain name, designed to impersonate an email with a corporate X account. Symbiotic mentioned that although access to the X account has been restored, it is still investigating the incident. No possible avenues of recourse are currently ruled out, and all feasible options for holding the hacker accountable are being explored. Symbiotic will notify and cooperate with the appropriate legal authorities to assist in its investigation, and will continue to provide new dynamic updates in the future to ensure that this issue is resolved. After the hacking incident, Symbiotic built a Telegram announcement channel that provides additional endorsement protection for all official announcements.
