2024-07-23 00:56
Odaily News At a hearing on July 22, 2024, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Antonia Perez Hernandez and Nestor Nunez pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy charges related to the Forcount scam. Hernandez, Nunez and others are accused of defrauding $8.4 million from primarily Spanish-speaking investors between 2017 and 2021 by falsely claiming that crypto trading and mining through Forcount would yield lucrative returns. Juan Tacuri, one of the five defendants indicted in 2022, has also pleaded guilty. He was one of the promoters who held lectures across the United States to persuade investors to sign up for Forcount. Under a deal reached with prosecutors in June, he agreed to forfeit approximately $4 million and property purchased with victims' funds.
