EU files complaint against Meta for using data to train AI models without user consent
2024-06-06 11:25
Odaily News On June 5, Meta Platforms received 11 complaints regarding its proposed changes to how it uses personal data to train artificial intelligence models without consent. The changes could violate EU privacy regulations. Privacy advocacy group NYOB called on national privacy regulators to take immediate action to block such use. The 11 complaints were filed in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, and Spain. The complaints allege that Meta’s recent changes to its privacy policy, which will take effect on June 26, will allow the company to use years of personal posts, private images, and online tracking data to enable its artificial intelligence technology. Due to the upcoming changes, NOYB has asked data protection authorities in 11 countries to launch an urgent review. (Cointelegraph)
