Odaily News According to the governance page, the Axie Infinity community has initiated a new proposal to upgrade the Axie & Land smart contract through a hard fork. The proposal points out that a feature frequently requested by Axie asset holders is a safer way to delegate Axie assets to minimize the risk of asset owners. REP-015 was developed after a review of various smart contract methods in the crypto community. However, implementing REP-015 requires a fundamental upgrade of the Axie smart contract. The Axie community convened a committee of technical experts (including Owl of Moistness, Maxbrand99, freak, Duke, and dw) to analyze all available methods to upgrade the contract so that these features can be delivered to users in a timely manner while minimizing risks. The committee's unanimous recommendation is to hard fork Ronin and modify the contract directly. This action will include two upgrades: REP-015 (to achieve more powerful delegation capabilities) and ERC1967 (to upgrade smart contracts in the future without the need for future hard forks).
