SEC, Terraform Labs and Do Kwon to debate fraud compensation plan on May 22
2024-05-01 02:43
Odaily News After a jury found Terraform Labs and its co-founder Do Kwon liable in a fraud case with the U.S. SEC, a U.S. federal judge ordered the parties to discuss compensation plans ranging from millions to billions of dollars. Court documents show that Jed Rakoff, a federal district court judge in the Southern District of New York, said that lawyers for the SEC, Kwon and Terraform should appear in court on May 22 to argue about the compensation plan. The parties had previously submitted their respective requests for forfeiture, prejudgment interest and civil penalties, but the judge allowed the parties to supplement the materials before the appearance. The SEC requires Kwon and Terraform to pay approximately $4.7 billion in forfeiture and prejudgment interest, as well as a total of $520 million in civil penalties; Terraform's legal team proposed a civil penalty of $1 million and no forfeiture. The two parties will submit supplementary proposals by May 6 and May 1, respectively. (Cointelegraph)
