Hacken: The recent attack on Ripple Lianchuang involves wallets related to XRP authorized wallets
2024-02-09 06:08
Odaily News Blockchain security company Hacken recently disclosed the connection between the previous hacking attack on the personal wallet of Ripple co-founder and chairman Chris Larsen and the XRP authorized wallet. The hack occurred on January 31, causing Larsen to lose 213 million XRP, worth $112.5 million. According to Hacken, the two core wallets involved in the hack are related to XRP’s authorized wallets. Due to the exceptional complexity of the incident, the investigation initially focused on a wallet with an address beginning with “rJNLz3A1,” which was identified as the compromised XRP wallet. Through analysis of incoming and outgoing transactions, Hackens research noted that most of the stolen funds were moved to various exchange addresses, including one from Kraken that was allegedly used to funnel the funds. Specifically, a wallet address starting with rU1bPM4 has conducted a large number of transactions with Larsen in the past and is associated with the wallet used by the hacker. This account has long-standing ties to XRP, having sent $64.6 million in XRP to Larsen before the incident and was involved in transactions with a Kraken deposit address that was allegedly used to move funds from the attack. While Hacken did not conclude that the attack was the work of an insider, the connection between the wallets involved and authorized XRP wallets is indeed unusual. (Bitcoin.com)
